Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Present: Virgil Goodin, Marsha Goodin, Don Dreyer, Mary Ann Kempf, Randy Richards, Tom Priester, Joyce Roach, Randy Richards Absent: Art Schneider (on study leave/vacation), Wanda Vonderahe, Robert Stinnett Randy Richards opened the meeting with prayer at 2:40. Items to add to the agenda: Tom Priester added as new business ways to save money and ways to spend it. Minutes for May meeting: Robert Stinnett took notes since Jeanne had to stay at work the day of the May meeting. Robert was not at the June meeting. So we do not have the May minutes yet. Treasurer's Report: Tom said his records are 98 cents off what the bank statement shows for May. The bank statement shows $767.88. Tom's records show $768.86. Money deposited into checking total $468.00, outflows totaled $1369.16. He will work out the problem. In savings we have $3058.33. The CDs total $18724.46. This includes interest earned this terms of $59.66. We will wait until the next meeting when the 98 cents will be worked out to approve the minutes. We have received a check for $7016.63 approved last year from the city from gaming money. This money can be used for any purpose. In March of this year the Boonville City Council granted NHN $8000 to be used for food only. We have until August 15th to submit receipts for the city to be reimbursed for the $8000. Tom recommended that we plan ahead and buy basic food staples (tuna, mac and cheese, oatmeal, etc.) in bulk so that we can get a discount. This will cost us more than we typically spend in the short run, but we will pay less per item and be able to stock up for winter. Then we will get reimbursed by the city. Tom reported that when Virgil did housecleaning for the open house at Harvest House, he discovered a number of donation checks from last spring that had fallen behind a desk drawer. Tom has written letters to these people returning these checks that are too old to deposit, apologized and asked if they will consider issuing new checks. Wal Mart credit card status - Tom reported that nothing has come back yet. Donated food weight in May: Jeanne reported 11249 pounds. Of this7396 pounds were from the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive and 3249 pounds from Wal-mart. Volunteer hours in May: Jeanne reported 443 hours. NHN Food distribution in May - Virgil reported

Total people served_659 Update on NHN client data entry - Robert Data entry training update - Robert Switch plate replacement at the distribution center - Robert Ameren UE Fluorescent Light Bulb Donation Request - Robert Dell computer to replace one of existing computers - Robert These five items were tabled since Robert was not present. Ink Cartridges—Switch from Staples - Tom requested that we do not go to Staples to get new ink cartridges. He has a source on Columbia at which he can get cartridges for half price. He has to bring an empty cartridge with him. Since an empty one is needed to get a replacement it was noted that we will need to keep an extra cartridge on hand so we are never out of ink. Ricoh Copier - Tom reported that Alliant Bank has given NHN a Ricoh copier. Mary Ann questioned whether we can afford to have it. Tom suggested charging anyone 25 cents a copy for non NHN use. The copies will be useful for making copies of minutes and other reports for board meetings. SCRIPT fundraiser - Wanda chairs, Don and Mary Ann are members. Don and Mary Ann said it was decided that we do not have a big enough population to make good use of this program. Truck Signage - Marsha reported she is working with Valerie on one side. Tom said he is waiting for information on the other side. Orscheln Shelves - Disposition from Randy's truck - Mary Ann said she has spoken to some storage people. Sherri Kempf she could give us a good price on a unit. (I can't read the rest of my notes on that.) It was mentioned that Bill Stuart has a storage unit and we could pay him for a third of the unit. Then it was mentioned that this would not be a good use of NHN money. New Business - Building on Water Street - Mary Ann approached Kathy at MFA about the building on Water Street. Although Mary Ann was told that corporate MFA said the building is still be used for storage, the next time she drove by the building a For Sale sign was posted. This includes the building and the elevator for $175,000. Virgil (or Tom) said $750 is on the way to the bank for the federal Emergency Food and Shelter grant. Virgil said we have to fill out a form stating we have spent the first $750 then we will receive another $750. Jeanne mentioned that it is time to apply to First Christian Church for a grant from its foundation. Virgil said he will get in touch with Dan Crumm about that. Tom moved and Don seconded that the meeting be adjourned. The meeting ended at 4:10. The next meeting will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2010, at the NHN distribution center. Respectfully submitted, Jeanne Pascale
