Present: Virgil Goodin, Randy Richards, Tom Priester, Louise Bolin and Art Schneider. 

Excused absences: Jeanne Pascale and Wanda Vonderahe 

Not Present:  Hazel Stone, Marsha Goodin and Joyce Roach. 

Rev. Randy Richards opened the meeting with a prayer. 

Virgil called the meeting to order at 2:36 p.m.

Old Business:
Minutes from May board meeting: Randy moved the minutes be accepted as written. Louise seconded. Passed unanimously.

Exterminator Chemical and services Update—Randy reported the exterminator will spray and bill every other month.  For cockroaches the spray used is Tempo S. C. Ultra code CO5 and for mice Glueboard mouse and insect (also C05).

Insurance Discussion—Board concurred to remove from agenda without vote.

Total Hours donated in May -Jeanne submitted written report of 371.5 volunteer hours donated.

Donated food weight reported in May —Jeanne reported 3206.8 pounds of food were donated—2514 from the Post Office food drive.

NHN Food distribution in June—Virgil has been out of town and not had time to compile the June report.

Update on Raymond Paxton and marathon—Art contacted Raymond and Raymond was to send suggestions for marathon fundraising, but has not done so.

Update on new free computer program provided by Sedalia Open Door food pantry—Virgil reported the person who was to look at the computer to set this up is no longer at Harvest House.

Cross-training and records of where things are, people contacts. Art still does not have. Virgil reported he has started on this.

Food for a Spell Fundraiser—Virgil reported Sue Burns will handle the spelling words. Entertainment will be handled by Tim Fairley. Boy Scouts have the tent that is to be used. Next month additional board assignments will be made.

Treasurer’s report--Tom reported there was $2246.82 in the checking account at the end of May. He reported $387 had been deposited. Expenses were $654.23 for trash pick-up, groceries and bank charge for checks.

He also reported a beginning balance of $16047.81 in the savings account. Donations placed in the savings account totaled $2483. In addition, the account received $5.49 in interest.

$14,000 was taken out of the account to purchase two $3000 CD’s and four $2000 CD’s. The CD’s are in the pantry’s safe deposit box. This left a balance of $4536.30 in the savings account. Louise moved the report be accepted, Randy seconded. Motion passed.

Gas credit card status—No report.

New Business
Barron Fuller—Isle of Capri (board member) Virgil has not contacted. He will do so.

Lorraine Hemphill double sided freezer donation---Virgil asked Randy to pick the freezer up.


MU CARES—Art reported that M. U. would create a map showing poverty areas in the county (possibly also New Franklin) and if the food pantry provides addresses, will note locations of residents served by the pantry.  This would be a visual way for the board to see which areas with poverty rate are being served and which are not. Virgil will begin the process of collecting the address data. M.U. will destroy the data after the map is created.

Volunteer of the Quarter—Discussion focused on the teams of John and Phyllis Barnes and Don and Freda Dryer. After discussion Art moved and Tom seconded that the Dryers be named Volunteers of the Quarter. Motion passed. 

July meeting date: Next meeting date 2:30 p.m. July 27.
