PUBLIC SCHOOL
Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and accorded a AAA rating by the State of Missouri, Fayette's elementary school, middle school and high school offer students opportunities in a broad array of academic areas as well as vocational-technical skills.
COLLEGE
Central Methodist College, in the heart of Fayette, is a small, private, liberal arts college that offers many cultural and educational advantages for the entire community. A cooperative program between the Fayette schools and the college brings Central Methodist professors into grade-school classrooms for instruction in German, French and Spanish. The college's conservatory of music offers private music lessons for Fayette youngsters. A summer program in the sciences allows Fayette high school students to receive college credit in physics, biology and computer science. Because the college is part of the state's Interactive Television network, the doors to education and information exchange are virtually limitless.
Within a 35-mile radius of Fayette, are located the University of Missouri-Columbia, Stephens College, Columbia College and Moberly Community College.
MEDICAL FACILITIES
Fayette Medical Clinic, affiliated with the University of Missouri-Columbia and Keller Family Practice Clinic, affiliated with Columbia Regional Hospital, provides quality medical care for Fayette and surrounding communities. A 911 emergency response network is being implemented to serve all of Howard County.
MUSEUMS
The Ashby-Hodge Gallery of American Art, located on the Central Methodist College Campus, features changing exhibits of the work of prominent American artists such as Thomas Hart Benton and Charles Banks Wilson. The campus is also the locale for the Stephens Gallery and the Stephens Museum of Natural History.
RECREATION
Three city lakes provide scenic settings for family outings, fishing and sailing. D.C. Rogers Lake, the largest of the three, also has an archery and pistol range. A bowling alley and movie theatre are within easy walking distance from residential areas.
Athletic events at Central Methodist College, which competes at the NAIA level, are open to the public. An indoor pool at the college and an outdoor pool owned by the city provide year-round swimming.
