624 6th St.
In 1861, J.L. Stephens sold part of lot 12 to Obadiah Edwards for $602. At that time he had already built a brick house on the lot. The structure originally contained cresting around an 8’by 11’ flat rectangular platform on the roof. In the 1940’s, the basement was finished into rooms and a garage, the living room was enlarged by removing the central hallway, and the fireplaces in the dining room and basement were closed in. The front porch, which has a brick foundation square chamfered post and turned balustrade, was added in the 1890’s. By 1885 a brick ell had been added to the north bay of the west façade. Extending to the east from this bay is another addition which has a brick foundation and a garage entrance to the south. There are no outbuildings. The yard slopes downward to the east and allows for a walkout basement to the east and a basement garage to the south.
