309 Main Street
Built in 1870s this Italianate structure was first occupied by a jewelry store. The present use is still a Jewlery store. Projecting cornice with brackets is similar to those to the north. The second story windows have semi circular arched headers and lintels and a stone sill. The first story has a centrally located that is inset with a stained window. The cast iron pilasters of this building are products of Scherpe and Koken from St. Louis. Schmidt Jewlery store occupied this building following the civil war to the present prominent both locally and statewide. The building faces east onto Main Street.
