George Caleb Bingham Paintings in Missouri

A recent request for information regarding Bingham portraits in Cooper and Howard county homes or of early-day residents of this region, has produced the following list of portraits. Surely many more exist.

Mr. Laura Ellen Ware Neill, owned by Mrs. Harry Moore, Boonville. Mrs. Ware was born in Providence, R.I. in 1830. Married Robert Neill in St. Louis, April 12, 1846, and moved to Arrow Rock. This portrait and two small companion portraits of the son and daughter were painted during the 1860's. In 1869 Mrs. Neill married George Koonze of Boonville.

Judge and Mrs. J.P. McBride, Judge of the Supreme Court of Missouri, painted by Bingham in Columbia. Owned by Mrs. James Thompson, Fayette, a granddaughter.

Dr. Locke Hardeman, son of John Hardeman of Hardeman's Garden@ fame. Owned by Mr. Glen Owen Hardeman, Pacific, Mo.

Dr. Glenn Owen Hardeman, and his wife Pamela Atlanta Townsend Hardeman, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Joe T. Hardeman, Seattle, Oregon.

Mrs. Nadine Nelson Leonard, painted in Boonville by Bingham when Mrs. Leonard was 18 years old. Owned by N. Nelson Leonard, Bunceton.

Jacob Wyan, early-day Boonville merchant, painted before 1840. An important early Bingham portrait. Owned by N.Nelson Leonard, Bunceton.

Mr. and Mrs. Issac Lionberger. Owner: Mrs. H. L. Harland, Boonville.

Mrs. Bettie Richardson, wife of Missouri Supreme Court Judge John Richardson. Owned by Mrs. C.H. van Ravenswaay, Boonville.

Mr. and Mrs. William Prewitt of Columbia, and portrait of the son of Mr. James Keyte of Keytesville. Owned by Charles van Ravenswaay, Boonville.
