Nurse Consultation Program

The Nurse Consultation program is a collaborative project between county health offices and the Missouri Department of Health. Child care consultation and training is provided to child care providers through a special grant from the federal Department of Health and Human Services Child Care Bureau and Maternal and Child Health Bureau.

The program is to:

• Provide Health and Safety Consultation
• Promote safe and developmentally appropriate environments for all children in child care
• Assist families assess key public health and social service programs

All licensed and license-exempt child care providers may receive consultation.  Training clock hours are awarded to child care staff for the training.   Topics include:

• Communicable disease
• Children and Special Needs
• First Aid/CPR
• Injury Prevention and Safety
• Immunization
• Dental Health
• Diapering
• Sanitation
• Head Lice
• Handwashing and other topics

Family members with a child enrolled in child care also may receive education and consultation. Children in child care settings also may receive health promotion presentations. There is NO COST for the service.
