PURPOSE: To investigate alleged violations of the State's consumer fraud law, Chapter 407, RSM 1969,
as amended (Supp. 1975), and to institute any legal proceedings necessary to protect citizens
from the adverting and sales practices declared unlawful in Chapter 407.
SERVICES RENDERED:
1. Investigate individual consumer complaints which allege violations of the consumer fraud law.
2. Institute legal proceedings on behalf of the the State to enjoin unlawful practices, as defined in Chapter 407.
3. Operate consumer fraud hotline1-800-397-8222 through which Missouri citizens can report possible violations of the consumer fraud law.
4. Operate branch offices in Kansas City, 615 East 13th St., Kansas City, MO 64106,
(816) 274-6686, and in St. Louis, 705 Olive St., Suite 1323, St. Louis, MO 63101, (314)241-2211, in Springfield, MO,
149 Park Central Square, Suite 1017, Springfield, MO 65806 (417) 868-3567,
and Cape Girardeau, MO, Cape Girardeau Courthouse, Jackson, MO, 63755, (573) 243-1400.
PERSONS SERVED: Missouri citizens and citizens outside the State involved in
business transactions with Missouri companies.
