Pete Christus

Pete Christus III was born and raised in Boonville where he, his wife and four children still live.  He attended the Kansa City Art Institute and the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he studied art and film-making.  In Addition to his painting, he has done some area restoration, including the restoration of two of Bingham’s paintings.  Pete’s father also was trained in art restoration at the Kansas City Art Institute.

Christus says he was strongly influenced by the American impressionist painters and that he often takes the Midwestern landscape for his subject matter.  He is especially attracted to the rolling hills, farmlands and river fronts that constantly change in color with the changing seasons. He says that a drive down a country road is often all that he needs to provide a new setting for another painting.
